

As part of this transition, GMDC has strategically acquired three coal mines in Odisha, a region at the heart of India’s gasification initiatives. These mines hold a combined 2000+ million tonnes of geological reserves, positioning them as critical assets in strengthening the nation’s energy security.
Among these, Burapahar stands out with 547 million tonnes of reserves, offering the most suitable geological conditions for Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) with its rocky strata and significantly deeper reserves.
